Blakeley’s education service offers FREE curriculum linked work related learning. Blakeley’s full time dedicated Education Officer delivers sessions for young people in the North West.
We provide hands on, stimulating, work related programmes supporting primary and secondary schools throughout the region. We also work with community groups and after school clubs delivering presentations and environmental activities.
Following the completion of the site developments at Blakeley’s, we will be offering programmes that include tours based from our classroom facility.

Our aims
This is an exciting opportunity for Blakeley’s to engage with young people and the community through education. We work to minimise our impacts on our surroundings and wish to support and develop the real enthusiasm and passion young people have in protecting their local and global environment.
We aim to:
- Develop awareness of the 3 R’s (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) and influence a change in behaviour.
- Support schools, young people and the local community in reducing their impact upon the environment.
- Raise awareness of the role of the waste industry.
Blakeley’s Education Service on-going
We are currently developing our operational site by building a new Environment, Energy and Ecology Centre. We will use state of the art separation equipment in the automated materials recycling facility to maximise the recycling of all the waste brought to site.
When completed, we will be able offer visitors a real life experience of recycling, recovery of energy from waste together with many environmental sessions.
Based in the on-site Classroom in Company, school parties will be invited on tours of the new facilities and to take part in sessions based upon recycling, waste and the environment.
The classroom area will accommodate up to 35 pupils for a full days programme or short guided tours (dependent upon the age of pupils and focus of the visit).
Adjacent to the site we are developing an area of our land to enable outdoor environmental activities to take place. Children will be able to hunt for minibeasts in the habitat corner, dip for pond creatures, study aquatic biodiversity, terrestrial habitats and much more.
Watch this space for further details of when we will be taking bookings for on-site visits or email our Education Officer at education@blakeleys.co.uk for further information.
